Welcome to the mothership of 3.0T exhausts.
Our 3.0T exhaust system represents the most comprehensive exhaust development project in our company history. The 3.0T systems have paved the way for future exhaust technologies that can now be found in most every AWE Tuning exhaust product. We have spent considerable time and effort during development to achieve remarkable civility when idling and at part throttle cruising, while also producing a war-cry wail when full throttle is applied. Hand made in house, these systems command respect while remaining sophisticated, refined, and powerful, all at once.

Sound Perfection: AWE Tuning 180 Technology™
As exhaust gases exit the 3.0T engine and flow into an AWE Tuning 180 Technologyequipped resonator, they pass through strategically located ports, and into reflection chambers. Sound waves, carried by these exhaust gasses, bounce off the walls of the reflection chambers. By controlling the size and location of the ports and the chambers, we also control when the sound waves exit the chambers. The specific timing of when the reflected sound waves re-join the main exhaust flow creates a one-hundred-and-eighty-degree out-of-phase sound wave that cancels out problematic frequencies. More on AWE Tuning 180 Technologyin the tab above.
Tip options
Tip options are as follows - all of which include the AWE Tuning logo, and double walling to ensure a mirror finish even under hard usage.
All tips are individually adjustable, so stagger and depth into bumper can be set according to personal taste.
Please note: To accommodate the 102mm tips, the muffler itself had to be re-engineered, and as such, tips cannot be changed from 90mm to 102mm without the purchase of a new rear section of the system. .
About the downpipes
We offer our Resonated and Non-Resonated Downpipes. Our Resonated Downpipes (strongly recommended for S-tronic cars) feature resonators larger than the stock units in order to produce a mellow sound volume. Our optional Non-Resonated downpipes are suited for owners seeking a loud and aggressive sounding system. Both our Resonated and Non-Resonated Downpipes feature larger than stock tubing diameter.
Downpipe + exhaust packages offer the most cost-effective solution.
Downpipe installation tip
Installing downpipes on these cars is arduous given the placement of the factory bolts. We had so much trouble that we made an AWE Tuning-grade tool to make it easier. If you're planning an install, our Downpipe Removal Tool is a must have.
Upgrading to downpipes later
Not sure if you want to do the full package yet? No worries. If you purchase a Downpipe-Back system alone, you have one full year from the date of Downpipe-Back system purchase to buy the complementing downpipes, for the price difference between the Downpipe-Back system alone and the package price (price at the time of downpipe purchase). This is for original owners only, and is valid through AWE Tuning directly or through any authorized AWE Tuning dealer, so long as proof of the original Downpipe-Back purchase can be provided.
Read this, too
As with all AWE Tuning exhaust products, each TIG weld is hand finished internally, and flange openings are size matched to their ports, all to produce the smoothest flow possible. It is this intensive attention to detail that sets AWE Tuning exhaust products heads and shoulders above the rest.
Note: In limited cases, the factory downpipes have been known to emit minor rattling noises when paired with the AWE Tuning S5 Touring Edition exhaust system. The possibility of rattling is eliminated with the addition of AWE Tuning downpipes. AWE Tuning downpipes are package discounted when purchased with the exhaust, or if they are purchased within one year of an exhaust purchase.

Bad Aktor
So if you're a real enthusiast, and we presume you are, then you're aware, and generally nauseous, about this latest influx of SoundAktor technology on some of the latest Audis.
We hate it so much that we decided to put out this Public Service Announcement on how to get rid of the impersonator quickly and easily.
In case you're a latecomer to the Aktor stage, here's the scoop: The “SoundAktoris an audio file that is broadcast over certain 2013+ model vehicles' stereo system, regardless of what Drive Select mode the car is set to. On a stock exhaust, this sound file is supposed to make the car sound more sporty and aggressive. However, when combined with the inherent acoustic properties of a performance exhaust (like say, for example, an AWE Tuning performance exhaust), the total sound volume becomes too loud and can be bothersome under light throttle driving conditions. We don't like the sound of the SoundAktor, and not just because it's a cover band. It just feels wrong.
If you're like us and prefer the original, here's how to give that Audi a quick exorcism.
- To access this fuse box (on the end of the drivers' side of the dashboard), wedge a flat head screwdriver under the cover to pry it off. Note that there are three clips, at arrows in Figure 1.
- Locate the factory fuse puller tool (Arrow A in Figure 1).
- Consult the fuse location diagram in your car's owner's manual. Typically, the fuse is labeled “Sound actuator/exhaust sound tuningand is located at position 5 of fuse block A on the driver's side end of the dashboard.
- Pop off the purple fuse guard frame on the proper fuse block (Figure 2).
- Remove the proper fuse as listed in your Owner's Manual.
- Put the purple fuse guard frame back in.
- Replace the fuse cover.
- Go be pure on the open road.
Most of you will want to hold a ceremony to degrade, then destroy the SoundAktor fuse.
And there you have it. You have successfully avoided the commoner's future.

Fitment: Audi S5 Coupe 3.0T Quattro Manual
AWE Tuning Exhaust had its start in 1991 and has the facilities needed to do everything in house assuring you of a first rate product. Their unique products like the SWITCHPATH AWE Exhaust System for your Porsche is designed to direct exhaust gasses away from the side mufflers giving you that impressive AWE exhaust touring tone only slightly louder and then with the “SWITCHPATH” valve open your exhaust gasses are directed away from the side muffler and you get that more aggressive sound.
