Want to control the vibrations caused by torque spikes? Try a Fluidampr damper for your engine. Not all cars use Fluidampr dampers and smaller gasoline cars (below 1.3 ltrs) don't need them. On the other hand , if you have a high performance diesel engine and are running chips and programmers your vehicle can be particularly affected by torsional vibrations. The outstanding engineers for FLUIDAMPR's parent company, VIBRATECH TVD, were the discoverers of the viscous torsional vibration damper that was being used in high power diesel applications back as far as 1946; then in the beginning of the 1980’s the premier racing engine builders wanted to accommodate professional motorsports with viscous damper technology. Their goal was to replace the elastomer harmonic balancers being used in race cars with the viscous damper because the rubber in the elastomer harmonic balancer did not stand up to the heat demands in racing and as a consequence the rubber lost its ability to protect the expensive race car engines. As a result of this undertaking the FLUIDAMPR brand of performance dampers was born and they continue to have a preeminent place in the marketing of SFI 18.1 spec, premium crankshaft dampers sold for domestic, import and diesel street use and motorsports applications. The VABRATECH TVD engineers have been perfecting the use of silicone for over 65 years and their introduction of this fluid in the FLUIDAMPR product is a testament to their ingenuity because silicone retains its stability across a spectrum of extreme temperatures and it has outstanding heat dissipation qualities. They, likewise, designed the FLUIDAMPR performance dampers with a free rotating inertia ring within a laser sealed outer housing because they knew that shearing a free rotating inertia ring back and forth through the silicone would remove vibration energy, convert it to heat and dissipate it through the sealed inertia ring housing and concurrently would control vibrations and protect the engine. Because of the outstanding protection given to the engine by the viscous damper they are originally equipped in high-quality sports cars like the V-10 Audi R8 and the LAMBROGHINI GALLARDO and the Ram 6.7L Cummins diesel trucks but you can have the same outstanding product in your race car with the FLUIDAMPR performance damper.
