Product Description

The unsurpassed braking capacity of the Forged Narrow Superlite 6R six-piston caliper serves as the base of this group of 13-14 big rotor kits for these popular late model vehicles. FNSL6R kits are engineered application specific for simplified installation and full compatibility with OE master cylinder output and ABS functions where used. Big brake kits provide increased brake capacity and complimentary style with wheel, tire, and suspension upgrades on show cars and high performance street/track machines. Optional caliper finishes and rotor designs simplify personalizing the style and braking requirements of any application.

When the brake pad grabs the rotor, it creates friction, which creates heat but if the brake rotor is slippery it becomes difficult for the brake pads to grab. However, the configuration of the disc brake system is such that it has holes drilled on the brake rotor making it easier for heat, gas and water to dissipate and be quickly moved away from the rotor surface thus providing better performance.

A brake rotor that is wet becomes slippery and consequently this makes it difficult for the brake pads to grab. However, disc brakes provide optimum performance in wet weather because they do not collect water on the brake disc the way drum brakes do.

Another big advantage of disc brakes is their ability to generate and transfer greater amounts of heat to the atmosphere resulting from the fact that the friction area of a rotor is exposed to air thus cooling is more expeditious than it is on a drum brake.

And under excessive usage, such as repeated hard stops or riding the brakes down a long incline disc brakes take longer to lose their effectiveness.
